Why fresh frozen
A cannabis flower harvested at peak trichome maturity is at its terpene maximum. The volatile aromatic compounds that produce flavor and effect are at their highest concentration. From that moment, terpenes start to degrade. The traditional dry-cure cycle takes 14 to 60 days, during which 30 to 60 percent of the terpene profile is lost to evaporation, oxidation, and conversion. Freezing the flower fresh, within hours of harvest, stops the loss. The flower goes from plant to cryo within the same operating shift. The terpene wall stays intact.

Why we extract cold
Hydrocarbon extraction at warm temperatures pulls everything: cannabinoids, terpenes, lipids, chlorophyll, waxes. The result is harsh and requires heavy post-processing. At minus 90 Celsius, hydrocarbon extraction becomes selective. Lipids, chlorophyll, and waxes stay inert. Cannabinoids and terpenes flow through. Less post-processing, more of the original plant in the final product.

Live resin vs cured resin
Live resin is hydrocarbon-extracted from fresh frozen flower. Cured resin is hydrocarbon-extracted from dried, cured flower. Live resin retains the terpene profile of the harvest moment. Cured resin retains the terpene profile of the cured flower, which is partially degraded. Side-by-side, live resin smells and tastes like the plant smelled when it was harvested. Cured resin tastes like the plant tasted three weeks later.
